- rep – repeat

- FwP – forward pass
- RetP – return pass
- Lts – last Tunisian stitch

Special Stitch: Tunisian Half Double Crochet (Thdc)

Foundation Row
- Chain any number of stitches.
- This chain becomes your foundation row.
Forward Pass
- Yarn over, insert hook into the second back bump from the hook.
- Yarn over, pull up a loop (leave loop on hook).
- Continue across the chain:
- Yarn over, insert hook into next back bump
- Yarn over, pull up a loop
- Keep all loops on the hook
Return Pass
- Yarn over, pull through one loop (this functions like a chain 1).
- *Yarn over, pull through three loops
- Repeat from * to end
Subsequent Rows
- Yarn over, skip the first two vertical bars
- Insert hook under both of the next two vertical bars, yo, pull up a loop
- *Yo, insert hook under both of the next two vertical bars, yo, pull up a loop
- Continue from * across to the last stitch
- Yarn over, pull up a loop in the last Tunisian stitch
- Work the return pass as above

Tunisian Crochet Cup Cozy – Free Pattern
Foundation Row
- Ch 32
- Thdc in the 2nd back bump from hook and in each back bump across
- (Don’t forget the yarn overs!)
Return Pass
- Ch 1
- yo, pull through 3 loops
- Repeat to end
Row 1
- Skip first two vertical bars
- Thdc in each stitch across
- In last stitch: yo and work as Lts
- RetP
Rows 2–8
- Repeat Row 1
Bind Off (Last Row)

- Tslst in each vertical bar across
- Insert hook under two vertical bars at a time, just like the Thdc stitch
- On the last stitch, insert hook as for Lts
- Fasten off, leaving a 9″ tail for seaming
Finishing
- Place right sides together
- Whip stitch the short edges together
- Fasten off and weave in all ends
- Turn right side out
