Sometimes projects take a little longer than we plan—but that’s usually when they turn out just right. I had hoped to release this scarf a while ago, but a few changes (and a community poll!) made it worth the wait.

Cozy, Textured, and Totally Worth the Wait
After sharing a sneak peek of this Tunisian crochet blanket scarf, I asked whether it should have tassels or not. The vote came in loud and clear: no tassels this time.
My first blanket scarf has big rope tassels, so I loved the idea of making a second one that felt a little more refined and classic.
Instead of tassels, I added a ribbed border inspired by my Quinn Blanket, and it gave the whole piece the perfect finish.

I’m thrilled with how it turned out—soft, drapey, and textured, with a subtle woven look that’s just so satisfying to make.

Special Stitches
Long Tunisian Double Crochet (LTdc):

TSS (Tunisian Simple Stitch):
Insert hook under front vertical bar of next st from right to left, yo, pull up a loop. Repeat across.
Return Pass (RetP):
Ch 1, *yo, pull through two loops*, cont. from * to * across, switching to new color when you have two loops total left on your hook.

About the Tunisian Crochet Field Stitch Blanket Scarf Pattern
This scarf is worked using the Tunisian Field Stitch, a fun combination of Tunisian simple stitch (TSS) and Long Tunisian double crochet (LTdc). Together, they create a soft grid-like texture that looks amazing when paired with self-striping or variegated yarn.
For this project, I used:
- Yarn A: Lion Brand Pound of Love in Elephant Gray - Buy on LionBrand.com HERE or Amazon.com HERE or Michaels.com HERE
- Yarn B: Red Heart Roll With It Melange in Showtime - Buy on Amazon.com HERE or Michaels.com HERE or MaryMaxim.com HERE
The neutral gray tones perfectly balance the color-changing Roll With It Melange, creating a look that makes every row exciting.
Hooks:
6.5 mm Tunisian crochet hook (main body) - Check out my favorite Tunisian crochet set HERE. For long Tunisian crochet hooks, I recommend these or these (which were used in the tutorial video).
6 mm regular crochet hook (border) - Check out my favorite ergonomic hook set on Amazon.com HERE
