You’ll notice that I also included instructions for a washcloth pattern. Since I purchased the Super Size yarn, I had enough leftovers to make one washcloth.

Notes

• Finished size of the dishcloth measures 15″ wide x 18″ long
• Finished size of the washcloth measures 9″ wide x 9″ long
• To change the width, chain any number
• To change the length, simply add more rows

• As for the measurements, different colors worked up differently. Here are how many rows it took to get to the 18 inch length for all four colors: Bamboo 51 rows, Blue Jeans 56 rows, Jade Mist 51 rows, Ecru 53 rows
• For the washcloth in Jade Mist, I crocheted 26 rows

Special Stitches

Thdc (Tunisian half double crochet) Video tutorial

Start with a Foundation Row: Begin by chaining any number of stitches. This will be your foundation row.

Forward Pass:

• Step 1: Yarn over and insert your hook into the second back bump from the hook.
• Step 2: Yarn over again and pull up a loop. Keep the loop on your hook.
• Step 3: Continue this process across the chain – yarn over, insert the hook into the next back bump, yarn over, and pull up a loop, keeping all loops on the hook.

Return Pass:

• Step 1: To start the return pass, yarn over and pull through one loop on the hook (this is essentially a chain 1).
• Step 2: Then, yarn over and pull through three loops. Repeat this step (yarn over and pull through three loops) all the way across.

Subsequent Rows:

• Step 1: Yarn over (skipping the first two vertical bars) and insert hook under both of the next two vertical bars, pull up a loop.
• Step 2: Yarn over and insert hook under both of the next two vertical bars; continue all the way across until you get to the end.
• Step 3: Yarn over and pull up a loop in the last Tunisian stitch.
• Step 4: Return pass as stated above

Pattern for Dishcloth and Washcloth

For the Dishcloth (Washcloth)

Foundation row Ch 45 (28), Thdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end (don’t forget the yarn overs!) (90 loops on your hook, 56 loops for washcloth size)

Return Pass: Ch-1, * yo pull through 3 loops * repeat to end

Row 1 sk first two vertical bars, Thdc in each st across until last st, yo, working the last st as for Lts, RetP

Rows 2 – and on repeat row 1 until dishcloth measures about 18″ long (9″ for washcloth) or until it’s the size you want (See notes section for how many rows each individual color took to get to the 18″ measurement.)

Last row Tslst in each vertical bar across row, going under 2 vertical bars at a time (just like you did for the Tunisian half double crochet stitch) to bind off, inserting hook as for Lts on the last st. Do not fasten off. Continue to loop instructions and/or border instructions.

If you want to do a border (I only did a border on the washcloth):

Border: Change to 5 mm regular crochet hook

Side 1: Ch 1, sc2 in first st, sc in each st along side, sc2 in last st

Edge 1: sc2 in first st, sc in each st along edge, sc2 in last st

Side 2: sc2 in first st, sc in each st along side, sc2 in last st

Edge 2: sc2 in first st, sc in each st along edge, sc2 in last st, sl st to first sc from side 1

Fasten off if not doing a loop.

For loop to hang dishcloth

ch 9, slip st into space below (see pictures on next page), fasten off and weave in all ends
