Free Tunisian Crochet Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Materials

Yarn:

• Lion Brand Pound of Love in Sleet (Category 4, 100% acrylic) - approx 83 yards for 2 gloves
• Roll With It Melange in Showtime (Category 4, 100% acrylic) - approx 34 yards for 2 gloves

Hooks:

• 5 mm crochet hook (for ribbing, thumb edging, and top edging)
• 6.5 mm Tunisian crochet hook (for glove body)

Pattern Notes

• Before beginning the cuff, leave a 40" tail. You’ll use it later for seaming and finishing.
• The gloves are worked flat, then folded and seamed.
• The Tunisian section alternates between Sleet and Showtime each row for soft striping.
• Fits an average adult hand. To make larger or smaller, adjust the number of rows in the cuff and in the number of knit stitch rows.

Step-By-Step Video Tutorial

Tunisian Knit Stitch Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Cuff

Hook: 5 mm
Yarn: Pound of Love (Sleet)

1. Leaving a 40″ tail, ch 12.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (11 sc)
3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc under both loops in 1st st, sc BLO in next 9 sts, sc under both loops in last st. (11 sc)
4. Repeat Row 2 until cuff measures about 6″ tall (26 rows for sample).
5. Do not fasten off.

Glove Body (Tunisian Section)

Switch to 6.5 mm Tunisian hook.

1. Foundation Row:
   • With Sleet, pick up 1 loop in each row end across cuff = 26 loops.
   • Work return pass: ch 1, *yo, pull through 2 loops on hook* rep from * to * until 2 loops remain.
   • Switch to Showtime, yo and pull through last 2 loops.
2. Row 1 (Showtime): TKS across. Standard return pass.
3. Row 2 (Sleet): On last 2 loops of return pass, switch to Sleet. TKS across.
4. Row 3 (Showtime): Switch back to Showtime on last 2 loops. TKS across.
5. Continue alternating colors each row until you have 20 rows total (Row 1 = Showtime, Row 20 = Sleet).
6. Bind-Off Row (Row 20, Sleet): Work Tunisian knit stitch bind-off across. Leave a tail for seaming and fasten off Showtime if still attached.

Seaming & Thumb Hole

1. Top Seam:
   • Fold glove RS together.
   • Using the tail from bind-off, seam the top 5 rows of the Tunisian section through the back loops only of edge stitches.
   • Fasten off tail and weave in
2. Cuff + Lower Seam:
   • Using the 40″ starting tail, seam the cuff edges together through back loops only.
   • Continue seaming up 10 rows of the glove body (below the thumb opening).
3. Thumb Hole Edging:
   • With glove still WS out, stop seaming at thumb hole.
   • Switch to 5 mm hook, turn glove RS out.
   • Ch 1, sc around thumb opening = 14 sc total.
   • Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off.

Top Edging

1. With glove RS out, attach yarn to the first stitch of the bind-off edge.
2. Ch 1, sc in same st.
3. Sc evenly around the top edge = 26 sc total.
4. Join with sl st to first sc.
5. Fasten off.

Finishing

Turn glove WS out again and weave in all ends securely.

Make the second glove exactly the same as the first.

Finished Measurements

• Width (flat): approx. 4″
• Height (cuff to top edge): approx. 7.5″
• Fits most adult hands
