The Palmer Crochet Blanket Pattern
Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Seward, Alaska, where I was visiting my son and his girlfriend, the inspiration for the Palmer Blanket was born.
Surrounded by the incredible beauty of Alaskan nature, this blanket is not just a labor of love but a fusion of memories and my love of crochet.
The Palmer Blanket, featuring the sophisticated crochet Leaf Hopper Stitch, is more than just a cozy addition to your home; it’s a tangible piece of the warmth and connection shared during my time in Alaska, meticulously crafted into every stitch.
The Yarn
When I ordered this yarn from Amazon, I had no intention of turning it into a holiday-looking blanket. In fact, I thought I was creating another crochet camping blanket pattern.
I saw a gorgeous green camping blanket and decided I wanted to add to our ever-growing list of camping blanket patterns.
Needless to say, after experimenting with stitches, it turned into a blanket perfect for the holiday season.
I enjoyed working with the Tweed Twinkles yarn. It held up to all of my testing and frogging, which is always a bonus for yarn.
I was about halfway through with the blanket when I decided it was looking more holiday-ish and less camping-ish. That’s when I decided a faux fur border was a must.
Given that I was in a tiny town in Alaska in the winter where I couldn’t just walk into a store and buy yarn, I knew Amazon was my only option if it was going to arrive before I left. This was the only faux fur yarn that could be delivered in a few days.
My favorite faux fur yarn to work with is from Lion Brand, which will also work perfectly for this pattern.
