Free Crochet Dish Towel Pattern
I’ve been working with 100% cotton yarn quite a bit lately and needless to say, I am hooked.
After making both the Tunisian crochet placemats and cranking out quite a few crochet market bags, I knew I wanted to create a crochet kitchen towel pattern.
I wanted the pattern to be very beginner friendly, fast and with a modern edge to it.
As I was scrolling through Pinterest, I saw these beautiful kitchen towels that had a ribbed look to them. I knew I could easily recreate that look with my hook, yarn and a little back loop only action.
If you can crochet the half double crochet stitch in the back loop only, then you’re good to go.
The Yarn
I used Lion Brand’s 24/7 cotton yarn, which is a worsted-weight, mercerized 100% natural fiber yarn. They have 24 colors to choose from.
Here is a list of the colors I used:
- Ecru
- Silver
- Denim
- Charcoal
You can purchase 24/7 Cotton Yarn at LionBrand.com or Amazon.com.
Another cotton yarn I would recommend is Knit Picks Dishie yarn.
Our practical prodigy and home décor hero, Dishie is a hardworking worsted weight 100% cotton yarn with a tight spin and high absorbency.
Made for dishcloths, this stash staple is naturally machine washable and stays bright and colorful wash after wash, making it the ideal choice for kitchen knits such as dishcloths and hand towels.
This multi-purpose, easy-care yarn is also soft, smooth, and cottony, working well for rugs, toys, and market bags. Proudly practical, Dishie is an elevated workhorse yarn that will level up your handmade home in the kitchen and beyond.

The Dish Cloth Pattern
I made two different sizes for this pattern. One dishcloth size/towel size and one washcloth size.
Crochet kitchen towel size: 18″ x 13″
Crochet washcloth size: 8″ x 8″
I added a little loop to both so you could easily hang them up in your kitchen or bathroom.
The loop is worked at the very end, after you have done the border. If you don’t want the loop, you’ll simply skip the last step of the pattern. Easy peasy!
