Textured Tunisian Crochet Blanket Pattern | The Udelia

Our Udelia throw, a textured Tunisian crochet blanket pattern, features a distinctive stitch that may be new to you. Paired with the Tunisian Simple Stitch and adorned with fringe tassels, this blanket offers ultimate coziness!

We were blown away by the response from our last Tunisian crochet pattern, the Taylor, a sampler blanket pattern that mixed a self-striping ombre yarn and a solid color yarn.

I knew I had a challenge to follow that one up with another pattern. It’s probably my favorite pattern I’ve designed to date, but the Udelia is following closely behind.

Why? I saw a blanket on Pottery Barn selling for $119, and I thought, “I Can Crochet That!”

And the Udelia blanket was born.

Here’s the Pottery Barn blanket named the Bryn. (Not to be confused with our Bryn blanket. 😉 )

And ours…

How much did ours cost to make? Around $30, and, well, all the hours it took to make it. lol, But we crocheters don’t mind all the hours!

Description

Create a cozy, textured throw using two easy Tunisian crochet techniques: the Tunisian Simple Stitch (Tss) and the Tunisian Bean Stitch. The bean stitch stands out, providing remarkable depth when combined with the simple stitch. This crochet throw is enjoyable to make and perfect for enhancing your home décor or giving as a thoughtful handmade gift.

The Stitches

I love the regular crochet bean stitch so much, and so do you, it seems! Our Finley blanket, featuring this stitch, is our most popular pattern to date.

I really wanted to create a Tunisian crochet blanket with a similar stitch. After searching the depths of YouTube, I found one tutorial for this stitch. After a it of practice and experimenting, the Udelia blanket was born.

Julie, Thank you so much for this beautiful new blanket pattern! Beyond the pattern I wanted to commend you on the video for the bean stitch, it was so clear and easy to follow that this is the next stitch I want to try. Tunisian crochet is my favorite and learning new stitches makes me want to start a new project just to use that stitch. Looking forward to garment patterns for Tunisian and the new placemat pattern you hinted at. In the meantime, I will finish my current work so I’m ready to try the bean stitch. You are a patient and excellent teacher - thank you! Linda
