The Bryn blanket, a Tunisian crochet full stitch blanket pattern, was made for the outdoors.
Whether you take it camping, decorate your campervan with it, or sit on a porch swing soaking in a sunset, this blanket will keep you warm and toasty.
Ever since I designed my first Tunisian crochet camping blanket, I knew there was another one in my future. I had some requests to create one that was a little thicker, for those colder nights outdoors.
And I’m happy to say, the Bryn crochet blanket is not only thicker but super squishy and perfect for snuggling up with.

The Design Inspiration for the Bryn Blanket
When designing my first Tunisian crochet camping blanket, my design inspiration was the Getaway House. If you’ve never stayed at one, you can read all about it on our outdoor website TREKKN, here.
It’s one of our favorite places to go to unwind, unplug, and well… get away.
For the Bryn Tunisian crochet blanket pattern, my design inspiration was our newly purchased campervan, which we named Kona. You can read about her here.
I wanted a blanket with some color because as you might know, most RVs and campervans are designed with dark, neutral colors. Adding some pizazz is up to the owner.
I also wanted a thicker blanket for the cooler camping temps and since you all requested it.
I’m happy to say the blanket looks fantastic in the campervan. I’m not planning on adding a lot of decor because of the space limitations, so a blanket and some wall hangings are about it.

The Stitches – Tunisian Full Stitch How-To
I fell in love with the Tunisian crochet full stitch the minute I started experimenting with it. It creates a squishy-like texture that is meant for snuggling up under.
And when you add in more than one color, well, it’s magical.
Tunisian Full Stitch with Two Colors
How do you crochet the Tunisian full stitch with two colors? Here’s a video tutorial I whipped up.
And here’s a step-by-step video tutorial:
Color A: Cream Colored yarn
Color B: Mandala
Foundation row: With color A, chain any number of stitches
Pull up a loop in the second chain from hook and in each chain to end
For return pass, switch to color B, ch 1, *yarn over and pull through two loops*, repeat from * to * all the way to the beginning of the row.
Row 1: Insert hook through the very first space between the two vertical bars, pull up a loop. Pull up a loop in each space between vertical bars until you get to the last space. SKIP the last space. Insert hook into edge stitch, under both side loops and pull up a loop.
For return pass, switch to color A, ch 1, *yarn over and pull through two loops*, repeat from * to * all the way to the beginning of the row.
Row 2: SKIP very first space, insert hook into second space between vertical bars and pull up a loop. Pull up a loop in each space between vertical bars, including the very last space. Insert hook into edge stitch, under both side loops and pull up a loop.
For return pass, switch to color B, ch 1, *yarn over and pull through two loops*, repeat from * to * all the way to the beginning of the row.
Continue repeating row 1 and row 2 for the rest of the pattern.
You are basically alternating skipping the last space between the vertical bars with skipping the first space between the vertical bars. When you skip the first space, you do not skip the last space. When you skip the last space, you do not skip the first space.
Notes:
- You are not fastening off your yarn when you switch colors. Instead, you are pulling it up the side. And you know what that means?? Less ends to weave in!
- You’ll want to focus on your tension when switching to a new color. Don’t pull too tight, but also not too loose. You want your edges to match.
- Why are we changing colors at the beginning of a return pass instead of at the beginning of a new row? Because when we do this, it gives it a woven look instead of stripes. Just like this Autumn Ombre Tunisian Crochet Scarf Pattern.
- I recommend practicing this stitch on a small swatch before starting the blanket
The Colors + The Yarn
Two of my favorite yarns when it comes to making blankets are Lion Brand’s Pound of Love and Lion Brand’s Mandala.
I’ve made quite a few blankets with Pound of Love including The Ava Throw, The Sara Blanket and The Nordic Blanket.

I’ve used Mandala yarn for these patterns: Autumn Ombre Scarf, The Lanai Blanket and the Let’s Go Camping blanket.

The Lanai Blanket
The Let’s Go Camping Blanket
Combining both of these yarns, Pound of Love and Mandala, worked so well for the Lanai Blanket that I decided to try it again for the Bryn blanket.
Here are the two colors I went with:
Lion Brand Pound of Love in Vanilla: Purchase on Lion Brand here.
Lion Brand Mandala, Groot: Purchase on Amazon here or Lion Brand here.
I honestly think you could combine the Pound of Love Vanilla yarn with any of the Mandala shades here and the blanket would turn out amazing. So if Groot is sold out or it’s just not your desired color scheme, definitely experiment with some others.

Side note: If you’re blanket is curling on the ends at the point, you might want to block it before you add the fringe.
I ended up not blocking it (because of time constraints on pattern release) and the curling worked itself out on its own.
For fringe
Cut 8 1/2 inch long strips of Pound of Love in Vanilla yarn
With two pieces held together, attach tassels to every other chain stitch on both ends
That’s it! I hope you enjoy working on this blanket as much as I did. Let me know if you have any questions about the pattern.
Have fun and happy crocheting!
Hi! I’m Julie. I am here for one reason: to help YOU embrace your love of crochet and expand your crochet horizons. I design modern and unique Tunisian crochet and standard crochet patterns and tutorials that bring me joy, and that I think you will LOVE. I’ve been crocheting for 25+ years and with the gentle nudging of my husband, decided to turn this passion into what you see here on ICCT. This is my playground!

Didn’t realize you were in to crochet but now that I know I will be a bigger fan than ever. I just started crocheting myself. I will now try the Tunisian method as soon as my larger crochet hook arrives. Thank you for videoing the directions.
